Elizabeth Allen is Associate Director of Alumni Relations at the Caltech Alumni Association in Pasadena, California. At Caltech, she integrates internet-based social media tools with traditional alumni relations practices, and directs strategies for engaging alumni both in person and online.
Elizabeth has served on the faculty at several CASE district and national conferences, and is the chair of the CASE Social Media and Community conference in April 2010. She has also delivered presentations to meetings and conferences of higher ed and advancement professionals, including the California State University Alumni Council, the California Advancement Researchers Association, and the Independent Writers of Southern California.
She has been a recipient of the CASE “Stellar Speaker” and “Faculty Star” awards. Her writing has been published in CASE Currents magazine, on several higher education blogs, and is included in a chapter she co-authored for Alumni Relations: A Newcomer’s Guide to Success.
Elizabeth has also performed as a private, independent consultant providing services for development professionals. Experience includes working with higher education clients on communications strategy and goals, conducting focus groups and surveys, presenting findings to volunteers and staff, and providing written final reports and recommendations. Clients have included a graduate‐level science and engineering institution, a private Native American art college, and small private colleges.
Elizabeth holds a bachelor’s degree from Scripps College in Claremont, California and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Management at Claremont Graduate University.
